 Registered Nurse

Nursing is a very sought after job in the medical field and will always be in high demand. It is understandable why the job is so sought after due to its very high pay value. Nursing covers a vast range of duties such as assessing, observing, and speaking with patients all the way to administering medicine or helping with a procedure. Interested in nursing? Take a deeper look into the qualifications and outcomes!

Schooling Qualifications

The first step in becoming a registered nurse is you need to obtain a degree. Now depending on the state or place of practice you plan on working in will determine if you need to get an associates degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree. However it is becoming more common that a bachelor's degree is what is needed.

After receiving your degree you will be required to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX) exam. The NCLEX exam is to ensure you will be proficient and are qualified to obtain the state licensing for the job.

After passing this exam you will be required to obtain a state license that will allow you to work. These are just the basic steps to becoming a registered nurse but there is always the option to further your education into specific fields from this point.

Outcomes of being a Registered Nurse

This career in the medical field has many pros and cons

The cons may be that you are in a very demanding environment which can be both mentally and physically draining. In the beginning you may also see that you are not receiving the ideal schedule you were hoping for, for example long night shifts or super early mornings.

However I personally feel that the pros heavily outweigh the cons. The pros are great pay, benefits, and the overall feeling of happiness knowing you are helping someone immensely. The average pay of a Registered Nurse varies on state but in California it ranges $78k to $170k a year. That is an incredible income that would allow you to completely be able to rely on yourself and splurge here and there.

If you have the motivation, compassion, and most importantly love helping others this is a great career for you.
